More than 70 colleagues at the Shaw-based national sort centre of Home Delivery Network - the UK’s largest dedicated home delivery and collection company - have successfully achieved Level 2 NVQ qualifications in warehousing and storage, team leadership and business administration.
The certificates were presented by senior management colleagues during a special ceremony at the Linney Lane facility. Home Delivery Network distributes more than 100 million parcels per annum to consumers across the UK from retailers including River Island, Sainsbury’s and online fashion store Asos.
Now, all 210 colleagues at the site are being given the opportunity to gain a wide range of NVQs into 2010.
Brian Gaunt, chief executive of Home Delivery Network, said: “This achievement is testament to the high calibre and commitment of our colleagues at the national sort centre.
As a business that handles a large volume of parcels for some of the UK’s best known retailers, it is vital that we continue to further enhance our service -every colleague we employ plays an essential role in this.
Training colleagues at all levels of the business is vitally important to us being able to provide an excellent service to our clients and it is also key to their development and retention.
For this reason, we are currently in the process of extending the NVQ scheme across all of our our parcel depots in the UK, with hundreds of colleagues already signed up to courses into 2010.”
